Almonds (flaked)
Almonds are the edible seeds of the almond tree, a stone fruit related to peaches and plums, and are eaten raw, roasted, or blanched. They are used whole, chopped, or slivered in baking, snacking, confectionery, and savoury dishes for their crunch and mild, sweet-nutty flavour. Their form, whether whole, sliced, or slivered, affects how densely they pack by volume.
Flaking produces thin, light pieces that pack more loosely — and weigh less per cup — than a whole or chopped form.
