Artichoke hearts (oil drained)
Artichoke hearts are the tender, edible centre of the artichoke, once the tough outer leaves and fibrous choke have been removed. They are commonly sold canned, jarred in oil, or frozen, ready to use in salads, pastas, dips, and antipasto platters. Their soft texture and mild, slightly nutty flavour make them a versatile addition to many savoury dishes.
Draining off the packing oil reduces the weight compared with the undrained form, though some oil typically remains on the surface.
