Asparagus (tips)
Asparagus is a spring vegetable consisting of tender green, purple, or white stalks, harvested as young shoots before they develop into ferny growth. It is typically steamed, roasted, grilled, or blanched, and has a slightly grassy, mildly sweet flavour. The woody base of the stalk is usually trimmed away before cooking.
Using just the tender tips changes both the weight and how the pieces pack compared with using the whole vegetable.
