Barley (rolled)
Barley is a cereal grain with a chewy texture and mild, nutty flavour, commonly used in soups, stews, and pilafs, as well as in brewing beer and making malt. Pearl barley, which has had its outer husk and bran removed, cooks faster than hulled barley and is the more common form for home cooking. It absorbs liquid well and holds its shape after extended simmering.
