Basil pesto
Basil pesto is a sauce made from blended fresh basil, pine nuts, garlic, Parmesan cheese, and olive oil, originating in the Genoa region of Italy. It is traditionally tossed with pasta but is also used as a spread, marinade, or flavouring for soups and dressings. Its bright green colour and strong herbal flavour come from using fresh, uncooked basil leaves.
