Blackberries (frozen)

Blackberries are dark purple-black aggregate berries with a sweet-tart flavour and a cluster of small seed-filled drupelets. They are eaten fresh, baked into pies and crumbles, or cooked into jams and sauces, softening and releasing juice readily when heated. Their delicate structure means they bruise easily and have a relatively short shelf life.

Freezing can cause an ingredient to clump or trap air unevenly, which slightly changes how it packs into a measuring cup compared with fresh.
