Butterhead lettuce (shredded)

Butterhead lettuce is a loose-leafed lettuce variety with soft, tender leaves and a mild, slightly sweet flavour, including types like Boston and Bibb lettuce. It is used raw in salads and sandwiches, or as a wrap for fillings due to its pliable leaves. Its delicate texture makes it more perishable than crisper lettuce varieties.

Shredding produces long, thin strips that trap more air than a fine grate, so shredded measurements are typically lighter per cup.
