Cashews (raw, whole)
Cashews are kidney-shaped nuts that grow from the bottom of the cashew apple, with a mild, buttery flavour and a softer texture than many other nuts. They are eaten raw or roasted as a snack, used in stir-fries, or blended into creamy sauces, milks, and cheeses due to their naturally smooth texture when processed. Unlike most nuts, they are never sold in their raw in-shell form because the shell contains an irritant.
Measured in its raw, unprocessed state, before any cooking changes its water content and texture.
