Cayenne pepper (ground)
Cayenne pepper is a hot, ground red chilli pepper with a sharp, pure heat and little sweetness, used to add spice to a wide range of savoury dishes. It is added in small amounts to sauces, marinades, and spice blends, as its heat is quite concentrated. It is distinct from milder ground chillies like paprika, which are made from sweeter pepper varieties.
Grinding reduces an ingredient to a fine, even texture that generally packs more densely than a whole or crushed form.
