Chilli flakes (dried)
Chilli flakes are dried, crushed chilli peppers, including the seeds, used to add heat and a slightly smoky, earthy flavour to dishes. They are commonly sprinkled over pizza, pasta, and other savoury foods, or added during cooking for a more distributed heat. Their coarser texture compared to chilli powder means the heat is released more gradually.
Drying removes most of the water content, leaving a lighter, more concentrated product that weighs considerably less per cup than its fresh equivalent.
