Chilli powder
Chilli powder can refer either to pure ground dried chillies or, particularly in American cooking, to a spice blend combining ground chillies with cumin, garlic powder, and other spices for chili con carne and similar dishes. Its heat level and flavour complexity vary considerably depending on which type is used. Checking the specific product is important since the two versions behave quite differently in a recipe.
