Coffee (ground)

Coffee is a brewed beverage made from roasted, ground coffee beans, with a bitter, aromatic flavour that varies with the roast level and preparation method. In cooking and baking, brewed coffee or espresso is used to deepen the flavour of chocolate desserts, marinades, and glazes, while ground coffee is sometimes used directly as a spice-like flavouring or rub. Its strength and bitterness can vary considerably depending on how it is brewed.

Grinding reduces an ingredient to a fine, even texture that generally packs more densely than a whole or crushed form.
