Cumin (ground)
Cumin is a warm, earthy spice made from the dried seeds of the cumin plant, sold whole or ground, and is a foundational flavour in many cuisines including Indian, Middle Eastern, and Mexican. It is used in spice blends, curries, and rubs, with whole seeds often toasted to release their aromatic oils before grinding or use. Its distinctive smoky, slightly bitter warmth is recognizable in a wide range of savoury dishes.
Grinding reduces an ingredient to a fine, even texture that generally packs more densely than a whole or crushed form.
