Cumin seeds

Cumin seeds are the small, elongated dried seeds of the cumin plant, with a warm, earthy, slightly bitter flavour. They are used whole in tempering oils, spice blends, and pickling, often toasted briefly to enhance their aroma before being added to a dish. Toasting and grinding them fresh produces a noticeably more fragrant result than pre-ground cumin.
