Dates (dried)
Dates are the sweet fruit of the date palm, typically sold dried or semi-dried, with a sticky, chewy texture and deep caramel-like sweetness. They are eaten on their own as a snack, stuffed with fillings, or blended into energy balls, baked goods, and sauces as a natural sweetener. Medjool dates are notably larger and softer than smaller, firmer varieties like Deglet Noor.
Drying removes most of the water content, leaving a lighter, more concentrated product that weighs considerably less per cup than its fresh equivalent.
