Fennel bulb (sliced)
Fennel bulb is the crisp, layered base of the fennel plant, with a mild anise flavour that becomes sweeter and more subtle when cooked. It is sliced thin and eaten raw in salads, or roasted, braised, and grilled as a side vegetable. Its texture is similar to celery but with a distinctly sweet, liquorice-like taste.
Slicing changes an ingredient's shape and how it settles into a measuring cup compared with the whole or diced form.
