Figs (fresh sliced)
Figs are a soft, sweet fruit with a thin skin and a seed-flecked flesh, eaten fresh when in season or dried for year-round use. Fresh figs are eaten raw, roasted, or grilled, often paired with cheese and cured meats, while their sweetness intensifies considerably when dried. Fresh figs are highly perishable and have a much shorter shelf life than the dried form.
