Frozen spinach (thawed squeezed)

Frozen spinach consists of spinach leaves that have been blanched and frozen, typically sold in blocks or loose-pack form. It is used in cooked dishes like soups, dips, and casseroles, and is usually thawed and squeezed to remove excess water before use since freezing breaks down its cell structure. It has a much softer texture than fresh spinach and is not suited to raw applications like salads.

Thawing and squeezing removes excess water released during freezing, giving a denser measurement than an unsqueezed, thawed equivalent.
