Gnocchi (dry)

Gnocchi are small, soft dumplings traditionally made from potato, flour, and sometimes egg, formed into bite-sized pieces and boiled until they float. They are served with sauces much like pasta, and their light, pillowy texture depends on not overworking the dough during preparation. Fresh gnocchi cook very quickly compared to dried pasta.

In its dry form this ingredient hasn't absorbed liquid, so it's noticeably lighter per cup than it would be once soaked or cooked.
