Icing sugar (unsifted)

Icing sugar, also known as powdered or confectioners' sugar, is granulated sugar ground into an extremely fine powder, often with a small amount of cornstarch added to prevent clumping. It dissolves almost instantly, making it ideal for icings, glazes, and dusting over desserts. Its fine texture means it cannot simply be substituted one-for-one by weight for granulated sugar in most recipes.

Without sifting, this ingredient settles more densely into a cup and weighs more than the same volume sifted.
