Jackfruit (young canned drained)

Jackfruit is a very large tropical fruit with a spiky green exterior, containing sweet, fibrous yellow flesh when ripe. Ripe jackfruit is eaten fresh or used in desserts for its tropical, slightly banana-like flavour, while unripe, green jackfruit has a neutral flavour and fibrous texture used as a meat substitute in savoury dishes. The two forms are prepared very differently depending on ripeness.

Harvested young and canned, then drained of liquid before measuring, which affects both texture and weight compared with a mature or fresh equivalent.
