Lemon grass (finely sliced)
Lemongrass is a tall, fibrous tropical grass with a bright, citrusy aroma and flavour, widely used in Southeast Asian cooking. The tough outer layers are typically removed and the tender inner stalk is bruised, sliced, or minced to release its aromatic oils into soups, curries, and marinades. Whole stalks are sometimes simmered in a dish and removed before serving due to their fibrous texture.
Thin, fine slices pack more densely into a cup than thicker slices of the same ingredient.
