Muscovado sugar (dark, loosely packed)

Muscovado sugar is an unrefined or minimally refined cane sugar with a high molasses content, giving it a dark colour, moist texture, and a robust, slightly bitter caramel flavour. It is used in baking where a deep, rich flavour is wanted, such as in gingerbread, sticky puddings, and dark sauces. Its stronger flavour and moisture content distinguish it from more processed brown sugars.

Loosely packed means the ingredient is added to the cup without pressing it down, leaving air pockets that make it weigh less than the same amount firmly packed.
