Nori (dried, shredded)
Nori is a thin, dried sheet of edible seaweed, most commonly known as the wrapper used for sushi rolls, with a savoury, slightly briny, umami flavour. It is also toasted and crumbled as a garnish or snack, and becomes crisp when dried and slightly chewy when it absorbs moisture. Its flavour intensifies and becomes more fragrant when lightly toasted over a flame.
Drying removes most of the water content, leaving a lighter, more concentrated product that weighs considerably less per cup than its fresh equivalent.
