Ouzo
Ouzo is a Greek anise-flavoured spirit, clear when poured but turning cloudy white when mixed with water or ice due to the release of its anise oils. It is traditionally drunk as an aperitif, but is also used in some Mediterranean cooking and seafood dishes for its distinct liquorice-like flavour. Its strong anise character is similar to other anise spirits like pastis or sambuca.
