Papaya (fresh, diced)
Papaya is a tropical fruit with soft, sweet, orange flesh and a cluster of black seeds in its centre cavity, eaten ripe as a fresh fruit or unripe as a savoury vegetable. Ripe papaya is eaten fresh, blended into smoothies, or used in fruit salads, while unripe green papaya is shredded and used in salads like som tam. Its flesh becomes noticeably softer and sweeter as it ripens.
Measured fresh, before any drying, cooking, or other processing changes its water content and density.
