Rice cake (sliced)

Rice cake can refer to a firm, chewy cylindrical cake made from pounded glutinous rice, common in Korean and other East Asian cooking, or to a light, puffed, crisp disc of rice used as a low-calorie snack in Western contexts. The chewy Asian version is simmered in soups and stir-fries, while the puffed version is eaten plain or topped like a cracker. The two forms differ enormously in texture and preparation.

Slicing changes an ingredient's shape and how it settles into a measuring cup compared with the whole or diced form.
