Rice paper (soaked, torn)
Rice paper refers to thin, translucent sheets made from rice flour and water, used to wrap fresh spring rolls and other Southeast Asian dishes. The dry sheets are briefly soaked in warm water to soften before being filled and rolled, becoming pliable and slightly sticky. Once softened, they need to be used relatively quickly before they dry out or tear.
Soaking rehydrates a dried ingredient, increasing both its volume and weight compared with the dry form.
