Rock salt (coarse)

Rock salt is a coarse, unrefined salt mined directly from underground deposits, generally used for cooking applications like salt-crusted baking or as a bed for shellfish, or ground finer for table use. Its coarse crystals make it unsuitable for direct sprinkling on food without grinding, but useful in some traditional cooking methods. Its flavour is similar to other salts despite its coarser texture.
