Saffron (loosely packed)
Saffron is a spice made from the dried stigmas of the saffron crocus flower, harvested entirely by hand, making it one of the most expensive spices by weight. It imparts a distinctive golden colour and a subtle, floral, slightly earthy flavour to dishes like paella, risotto, and various Middle Eastern and South Asian preparations. It is typically steeped in warm liquid before use to fully release its colour and flavour, and only a small pinch is needed per dish.
Loosely packed means the ingredient is added to the cup without pressing it down, leaving air pockets that make it weigh less than the same amount firmly packed.
