Self-raising flour
Self-raising flour is plain flour that has baking powder, and sometimes a small amount of salt, already mixed in, providing convenient built-in leavening for baked goods. It is used in cakes, biscuits, and other quick breads where a reliable rise is wanted without measuring baking powder separately. It should not be substituted directly for plain flour in recipes that already call for separate leavening agents.
