Shortbread (crumbled)

Shortbread is a crumbly, buttery Scottish biscuit made from a simple dough of flour, butter, and sugar, with little to no liquid, giving it a dense, sandy texture. It is eaten on its own with tea, or used as a base for other desserts like caramel slices. Its high butter-to-flour ratio is what gives it its distinctive melt-in-the-mouth crumb.

Crumbling breaks an ingredient into irregular pieces with air gaps between them, making it lighter per cup than a solid block.
