Speculaas (crushed)

Speculaas are spiced Dutch and Belgian biscuits, traditionally made with a blend of warming spices such as cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and ginger, giving them a distinctive gingerbread-like flavour. They are eaten on their own, particularly around the winter holidays, and are often pressed into decorative moulds before baking. Their crisp, dense texture makes them well suited to dunking in coffee or tea.

Crushing breaks an ingredient into irregular fragments, which can pack either more loosely or more densely than the whole form depending on fragment size.
