Strawberries (halved)
Strawberries are sweet, juicy red berries with tiny seeds embedded across their surface, eaten fresh, baked into desserts, or cooked into jams and sauces. Their flavour and sweetness depend heavily on ripeness, with fully ripe berries being notably sweeter and more fragrant than underripe ones. Their soft flesh releases considerable juice when cooked or macerated with sugar.
Halving changes how pieces settle into a cup compared with the whole ingredient, typically leaving more trapped air.
