Tempeh (crumbled)
Tempeh is a fermented soybean product formed into a firm, dense cake, with a nutty, slightly earthy flavour and a texture firmer and more textured than tofu. It is sliced, marinated, and cooked by frying, steaming, or baking, and its firm structure holds up particularly well to grilling and stir-frying. It originated in Indonesia and is widely used as a meat substitute.
Crumbling breaks an ingredient into irregular pieces with air gaps between them, making it lighter per cup than a solid block.
