Vitabrits (crushed)

Vitabrits are a branded whole wheat breakfast biscuit cereal, similar to shredded wheat, formed into compressed rectangular blocks of woven wheat strands. They are eaten with milk as a cereal, sometimes crushed and used in baking for a wheaty, fibre-rich addition. Their dense, compact form means they take up less volume relative to their weight than flaked cereals.

Crushing breaks an ingredient into irregular fragments, which can pack either more loosely or more densely than the whole form depending on fragment size.
