Wasabi paste

Wasabi paste is a pungent, bright green condiment traditionally made from grated wasabi rhizome, though most commercial versions are made primarily from horseradish, mustard, and green colouring due to the expense and perishability of true wasabi. It is served alongside sushi and sashimi, delivering a sharp, sinus-clearing heat that dissipates quickly rather than lingering like chilli heat. Its intense flavour means only a small amount is typically used.
