Water chestnuts (sliced)
Water chestnuts are aquatic vegetable corms with a crisp, crunchy texture and a mild, slightly sweet flavour, commonly sold peeled and canned. They are added to stir-fries, salads, and fillings for their distinctive crunch, which they retain even after cooking, unlike many other vegetables. Fresh water chestnuts, when available, have a sweeter flavour than the canned version.
Slicing changes an ingredient's shape and how it settles into a measuring cup compared with the whole or diced form.
