Za'atar
Za'atar refers both to a wild Middle Eastern herb related to thyme and oregano, and to the popular spice blend named after it, typically combining the dried herb with sumac, sesame seeds, and salt. The blend is sprinkled over flatbreads with olive oil, used as a seasoning for meats and vegetables, or mixed into dips. Its combination of herbal, tangy, and nutty flavours makes it a distinctive addition to Middle Eastern dishes.
